প্রথমেই পদ্মের বীজ হাতে নিয়ে একটু খেয়াল করলেই দেখতে পাবেন যে একটা শক্ত খোলা আসল বীজ টার উপর ঢাকা রয়েছে, , বীজের খোলো টার দুইটি মুখ দুই রকম। একটি চোখা এবং অন্যটি তুলনামুলক গোল।
